Te wiki o te reo Māori 2025

This week our school celebrated Te wiki o te reo Māori. It’s a special year being the 50th year of Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori (Māori Language Week) in Aotearoa. You can click here to find out more. Here are some videos of the Senior Kapa Haka performance during our closing assembly. You’ll see our class present the story of Maui and the Sun. Our class won the art challenge for the Rangi team and Leone won the writing competition. You can see his writing here. Special mention to Rachael and her whanau for sharing their precious taonga with us: pūtātara and pūkāea. Kia kaha te reo Māori. Ake ake ake.

Duffy Role Model Assembly 2025

This term we had Taofi Mose Nehemia come and speak to us about reading. Taofi is a Samoan New Zealand based actor and dancer. During the assembly, she taught us a few Samoan words that we usually hear in a sāsā like nofo and we all had to sit up. It was lots of fun! After her introduction, Taofi told us the story of Sina and her brothers. She acted it out and used lots of humour to tell the story. We thoroughly enjoyed it! Check out the videos here of Taofi’s visit to Weymouth Primary School. We hope to see her again soon.
